“CNN, citing a Ukrainian source familiar with the negotiations, reports that the United States and Ukraine have reached consensus on most issues of the “peace plan” proposed by the American side, but differences still remain between them.”, — write: www.pravda.com.ua

Details: According to the broadcaster’s source, “consensus” has been reached between Kyiv and Washington on most issues, but at least three important areas of disagreement remain.
Advertising:
The first area concerns the US proposal to give Russia part of the Ukrainian territories that it did not capture. The interlocutor of CNN says that the decision on this issue has not yet been made.
“It would be very wrong to say that we have a version that is acceptable for Ukraine,” he added.
The CNN interlocutor also said that the disagreement concerns the proposal to limit the number of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to 600,000: during the negotiations, a new number was proposed, but Kyiv wants further changes before agreeing.
In addition, the CNN source called the demand for Ukraine to give up its desire to become a NATO member unacceptable. Such a concession would set a “bad precedent” that would effectively give Russia veto power over NATO, “of which it is not even a member,” the source said.
Prehistory:
- At the negotiations in Geneva, the USA and Ukraine developed a new 19-point peace agreement, but the most politically sensitive issues were left to the discretion of the presidents of both countries.
- White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt said the U.S. had made “significant progress” toward a peace deal, but there were some “tickling but not overwhelming details.”
