On the night of November 25, fighters of the Special Operations Center “Alfa” of the Security Service of Ukraine, together with the Security and Defense Forces, hit a number of military and logistical facilities of the Novorossiysk seaport in Russia’s Krasnodar region with long-range drones, an informed source in the SBU told RFE/RL.

“Hits were recorded on the infrastructure of the oil terminal (oil standers and manifolds) and on the positions of the S-300/S-400 air defense systems. According to preliminary data, a large amphibious ship of project 1171, which was near the pier of the naval base, was also damaged,” said the source, who wished to remain anonymous, as he is not authorized to comment officially on the situation.

The Port of Novorossiysk is the second largest oil export center in Russia and the main base of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, the SBU reminded.

They also said that during the repulse of the attack, Russian air defense missiles hit the civil infrastructure of Novorossiysk.

The governor of the Krasnodar region of the Russian Federation, Veniamin Kondratiev, said that this Russian region suffered one of the longest and most massive attacks at night. According to him, six people were injured, at least 20 houses were damaged. Kondratiev called the situation in Novorossiysk (here the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation keeps all combat-capable ships) and Gelendzhik the most difficult.

Rosaviatsia announced temporary restrictions on the reception and departure of aircraft at Gelendzhik, Krasnodar and Sochi airports.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine previously officially confirmed the attack on Russia on the night of November 25, mentioning the attack on Novorossiysk.

“Units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in close cooperation inflicted a successful attack on the oil terminal “Sheskharis” in Novorossiysk, as well as the oil refinery “Tuapsinsky” in the Krasnodar region of the Russian Federation. According to preliminary information, oil standers (devices for pouring/draining oil to tankers) and a launcher from the S-400 air defense system were hit in Novorossiysk. The extent of the damage is being clarified,” the message read.

In addition, according to the command of the Armed Forces, in the city of Taganrog, Rostov Region of the Russian Federation, damage was recorded to the Aircraft Repair Plant “TANTK named after AHEM. Beriev” and the company for the production of UAVs “Molniya” – “Atlant Aero”. “Numerous explosions and significant fires were observed on the territory of the facilities,” the report says.

The General Staff assumed that an experimental A-60 aircraft was probably hit during the strike on the Beriev plant. Also, this enterprise repairs and modernizes DRLV A-50 aircraft and Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers, added the command of the Armed Forces.

The Russian Service of Radio Liberty also reported that a unique A-60 aircraft could have been destroyed by a Ukrainian strike on the night of November 25 on the territory of the Beriev Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex in Taganrog, Rostov Oblast, Russia.

According to the report, this is evidenced by eyewitness videos and a satellite image studied by Radio Liberty, taken three days ago, on November 22: it shows the A-60 standing in the part of the airfield that was hit.

This is not the first attack on the Beriev complex during the Russian war against Ukraine, which specializes in the maintenance and modernization of unique Russian aircraft – not only the A-60, but also the A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft.

The Russian Ministry of Defense did not confirm the data on the hit and stated that on the night of November 25, 16 drones were allegedly shot down over the Rostov region of the Russian Federation. In general, according to the Russian military department, from late evening until seven in the morning, 249 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were “intercepted and destroyed”, of which 116 UAVs were shot down over the Black Sea, four over the Azov Sea, and 76 drones over the territory of the Krasnodar region of the Russian Federation.
