The Ministry of Defense transferred 1.5 hectares of land to Lviv as communal property for the construction of the Memorial complex of military burials of Heroes of Ukraine.

Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on his Facebook page.

“A decision was made to transfer a plot of land from the funds of the Ministry of Defense to the city authorities of Lviv. This is 1.5 hectares, which will be used to arrange the Memorial complex of military burials of Heroes of Ukraine. This step creates the necessary legal basis for the start of the implementation of the approved design of the memorial complex. We work in close cooperation with the local authorities,” said Denys Shmyhal.

Yevhen Boyko, head of affairs of the Executive Committee of the Lviv City Council, also told about this in a comment for Zaxid.Net. He said that the plot given to the city by the Ministry of Defense is located within the boundaries of Mechnikova and Vahnyanina streets, next to the Lychakivskyi cemetery. “More than 10 years ago, the Ministry of Defense transferred the property on this site to the city, and now they have resolved the issue with the site below it. Even a year ago, we did not think that we would use the territory of the Hill of Glory for a military cemetery, but now we have to respond to the challenges that the war dictates today,” said Yevhen Boyko.

In Lviv, a new plot for the honorable burials of soldiers killed in the war with Russia was determined.

A dangerous excess of carbon monoxide was recorded in Lviv after the Russian attack.
