Rebel Wilson has opened up in a tell-all interview about the legal dramas surrounding her directorial debut film The Deb (Picture: Matt Winkelmeyer/WireImage) Rebel Wilson has spoken out after embezzlement, sexual harassment and bullying claims have plagued her directorial debut in movie The Deb.

The Pitch Perfect actress, 45, previously claimed The Deb’s 25-year-old lead actress Charlotte MacInnes was sexually harassed by producer Amanda Ghost in the shower – but both women deny anything ‘uncomfortable’ took place and are suing the comedy actress for defamation.

Now Wilson has addressed her bombshell claim – among others – in a new interview, in which she doubled down on her allegation that MacInnes was treated inappropriately by Ghost, 51.

‘Charlotte MacInnes came to me and said, “Last night Amanda Ghost came to me and asked me to have a bath and shower with her and it made me feel really uncomfortable”,’ Wilson said in an interview with Channel Nine’s 60 Minutes on Sunday evening.

According to Channel Nine, Wilson claimed Ghost said she had a medical reaction after swimming in the cold Bondi Beach sea so got into the shower, when she allegedly asked MacInnes to join her.

‘I felt that in my position as director I had to report that, and the moment I did, it started all the retaliation against me,’ Wilson said.

She came to me and made what I inferred as a sexual harassment complaint and I had a duty to then act on it.’

However, MacInnes and Ghost both deny anything ‘uncomfortable’ happened and refute Rebel’s version of events, leading them to sue the famous actress for defamation.

‘I never complained to Ms. Wilson or anyone else that Ms. Ghost “made me feel uncomfortable” or caused me any trauma whatsoever,’ MacInnes said in a statement.

Text messages from the time suggest Wilson didn’t think MacInnes had been a victim of sexual harassment, as she told Ghost: ‘Charlotte says all good. She just means “it was a bizarre situation” not that she personally felt uncomfortable x.’

Ghost responded, ‘Oh thank f*** for that. OMG. That’s hilarious. I nearly died,’ to which Wilson replied: ‘She was instantly like, “Oh no, zero issues at all.” But she said she was happy I called to clarify.’

Confronted with these texts, Wilson said she was ‘trying to maintain professional communication’ with the producer of her film, who was also the ‘access’ to the finances, but stated she also felt ‘uneasy’ about the situation.

It was also claimed Rebel orchestrated an online ‘smear campaign’ to discredit Ghost, with ‘malicious’ websites appearing online laying out claims against the TV producer, which she said were ‘seriously defamatory’.

Ghost and Wilson are locked in a legal tug of war over claims about what happened during the making of the musical comedy film (Picture: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for SXSW) Wilson claimed to have no part in the websites – including amandaghostsucks.com – and said her legal team was ‘instrumental’ in their removal.

‘I obviously had nothing to do with the creation or publishing of any websites,’ she previously said.

‘In fact, my legal team was instrumental in getting these sites taken down by providing the other side with a way of doing this—claiming unauthorised copyright use of a photograph of ME.

‘This is how these websites were removed from public view. Trying to assert I had anything to do with these websites is just another way they are trying to deflect from their own, in my opinion, dodgy behaviour.

‘They know I had nothing to do with these websites. However, it is important to note that in my opinion, is the information on these websites probably true?’

‘Yes, I feel like it most likely is true with the information I’m aware of after speaking to so many people. You don’t need to search very far to find a chequered history of Ghost!’ she added.

In July 2024 Wilson was sued by producers Amanda Ghost, Gregory Cameron and Vince Holden for defamation after she claimed they embezzled money from the movie and behaved with ‘absolute viciousness’. Wilson denied their claims.

In a countersuit, Wilson accused these producers of sabotaging the $15million (£11.4mill) film, embezzlement, bullying, and made the claim about sexual harassment of lead star MacInnes.

I was the target of this incessant bullying and harassment because I’d spoken out about the behaviour of these producers,’ the Bridesmaids star claims.

Wilson, who is facing separate lawsuits for defamation and breach of contract, also claims she was ‘locked in a room and forced to sign documents’ about the film, which she claims constituted false imprisonment by the UK producers Ghost, Cameron and Holden.

All producers deny Wilson was held captive.

Summing up the situation, Wilson said: ‘I think it’s wild it’s gotten to this point. I think it’s a ridiculous waste of the Australian legal system.’

The film is set to be released in Australia and New Zealand on January 15, 2026, but a worldwide release date has yet to be set.
