– I feel incredible, because this is a title, it is very important for me. This is a great tournament, I am very happy because of this victory. Also thanks to this I will enter the top 100 tomorrow. So it is very important.
This is a very important victory for my father. He is now in the army, he is protecting Ukraine, and it is very difficult. I’m trying my best to become the athlete he wants me to be, because that was his dream. He believed that I would enter the top 100 when no one else did. I can’t wait to call him because I know what it means to him.
– Yesterday you sent a powerful message to Ukrainians. Is there anything else you’d like to add today? Maybe you would like to say something to your family or your father?
– First of all, I want to tell my father. Dad, I love you very much. You are simply the best. And if it wasn’t for you, I would never have been able to. I would never have achieved these results without you.
And also an important point. After these tournaments, I will return to Ukraine and prepare for the next season, which I will start as a top-100 player. I will play Masters, I will play majors, WTA tournaments. My training will take place in Kyiv, my hometown.
I want to thank our defenders, because if it weren’t for the Ukrainian military, I wouldn’t be able to prepare at home. This is very important. So thank you to our army, which protects me, and thank you to everyone who supports Ukraine. Thanks to this, I can return home.
