Macron’s direct speech: “Already tomorrow morning, American negotiators will arrive in Geneva, the Ukrainian negotiating team will go there, as well as the negotiating team of the European Union: Germany, Great Britain and France – to be able to return to the negotiating table the essence and reconcile all these points of view.”

“We know under what conditions this peace is acceptable. It is necessary that they take into account the elements that make it possible to achieve a just and lasting peace for Ukrainians, and which take into account the elements of security for all Europeans,” the French president added.
In particular, he recalled that he considers it wrong to “restrict the format of the Ukrainian army, that is, its own sovereignty.”
“We know that if there are no elements of deterrence, the Russians will return and betray their promise. We have seen this many times, in particular with regard to Ukraine in February 2022,” Macron recalled.
He also emphasized that peace in Ukraine “must begin with a ceasefire. And this is also what we can try to achieve in the short term.”
“Since March, when President Zelenskyi gave his consent to the ceasefire, Russia has always said no. But we have elements (of the peace plan – “EP”), which we have already worked out in the spring and summer, and after the meeting that took place in Anchorage (with the participation of US President Donald Trump – “EP”). So, we will recreate the moment of rapprochement to try to get a joint text,” the French president said.
“This plan (which is being discussed today)… was not agreed with the Europeans. However, it provides many things for the Europeans. The frozen assets belong to the Europeans. The European integration of Ukraine is in the hands of the Europeans. The decision of what NATO will do is in the hands of the NATO members. Therefore, there are many things that cannot be simply an American proposal, and that require a wider consultation,” Macron emphasized.
What preceded: President Volodymyr Zelenskyi announced that representatives of Ukraine, the USA, Britain, France and Germany will work in Switzerland on Sunday.

According to the data CNNUS Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll and his team flew to Geneva (Switzerland) on Saturday morning, where he will hold meetings with Ukrainian officials regarding the “peace plan”, on Sunday they will be joined by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy Steve Witkoff.
US President Donald Trump said that his current peace plan for Ukraine is not a final proposal. Before that, he gave Ukraine time until November 27 to agree to the “peace plan” proposed by the American side.
