AFP calculations based on data from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) indicate that the implementation of the proposed US “peace plan” in its current form could lead to the unilateral transfer of large areas of Ukraine to Russia without a fight.
According to the agency, the plan envisages the possible acquisition by Russia of approximately 2,300 square meters. km of Ukrainian territory is almost as much as the area of Luxembourg (2,590 sq. km).
According to the document, Ukraine would lose:

approximately 5000 sq. km in Donetsk region;
-
approximately 45 square meters km in Luhansk region.
In exchange for this, Russia is supposed to return:
-
almost 2000 square meters km in the Kharkiv region,
-
450 square meters km in Dnipropetrovsk region,
-
300 square meters km in the Sumy region,
-
20 square meters km in Chernihiv region.
The AFP material emphasizes: the actual balance of the exchange means that Ukraine is offered to give about 20% of the territories occupied by Russia in exchange for less than 0.5% of its total area.
The analysis shows the serious risks and imbalances inherent in the current version of the American plan.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and US President Donald Trump will discuss the 28-point American peace plan next week.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Johann Wadeful, said that the “peace plan” proposed by the US for Ukraine is not final.
Ukraine and Europe cannot ignore the “peace plan” of the Donald Trump administration, which consists of 28 points. According to experts, this plan actually reflects Russian demands and involves significant concessions from Kyiv.
At this stage, it is important cooperation between Ukraine and the USA, which aims to conclude an agreement on peace and security. After the meeting with the US delegation, Zelensky will discuss the draft peace plan, which may significantly affect the further actions of Kyiv and its international relations.
