Ukrainian investigators took an important step in the investigation of the crimes committed in Buch, seeing a report of suspicion against the Russian officer Yuri Volodymyrovych Kim, who is accused of killing civilians under his command in 2022.

This is stated in publications Reuters news agency.

The investigation of witnesses and the collected evidence indicate a close connection of the commander with 17 murders and cruel treatment of people.

The importance of this step is emphasized by the fact that Ukrainian prosecutors are trying to trace not only the executors, but also the management team that passed the orders that led to significant humanitarian losses in the region. More than 450 bodies were exhumed in Buchi, which indicates the scale of the crimes committed by the Russian military.

Currently, Kim remains at large, and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has not commented on this case. These materials can become the basis for further investigations aimed at revealing the responsibility of the top military leadership of Russia for systematic war crimes.

The National Police of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor’s Office established the identities of five Russian soldiers involved in the shootings of civilians during the occupation of Buchi in 2022.
