US President Donald Trump has announced that he has signed a bill requiring the Justice Department to release all of its files related to the Jeffrey Epstein case.

Details: Trump issued a lengthy post, casting the release of the files as a transparency effort he’s pushed through Congress and using the moment to blast Democrats for their past ties to Epstein.

Direct speech Trump: “Jeffrey Epstein, who was indicted in 2019 by the Trump DOJ (not the Democrats!), was a lifelong Democrat, donated thousands of dollars to Democratic politicians, and had close ties to many prominent Democratic figures.”

“Perhaps the truth about these Democrats and their ties to Jeffrey Epstein will soon be revealed.”

“I just signed a bill to release the Epstein files.”

Details: Trump’s post did not say how the US Department of Justice would release the files, or whether the information would be related to ongoing investigations.

Trump also criticized what he sees as years of politically motivated investigations while praising his administration’s achievements.

Direct speech Trump: “This latest hoax will backfire on Democrats just like everyone else! Thank you for your attention to this issue.”

What preceded: A bill that requires the US Department of Justice to make public all the materials of the investigation into the late billionaire Jeffrey Epstein has been approved by the US Congress.

Trump previously said he would sign the declassification bill if passed by Congress and called on the Republican Party to vote for it.

We will remind: Epstein committed suicide in a prison cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking to minors.

In recent months, Epstein’s case gained special political weight in the US, when evidence of a possible close relationship between the deceased and Donald Trump, which he publicly denies, appeared.
