315 people’s deputies supported the minister’s resignation.
The Council voted to dismiss Grynchuk from the position of Minister of Energy of Ukraine / photo – Facebook page of the Ministry of EnergyOn Wednesday, November 19, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Svitlana Grynchuk from the position of Minister of Energy of Ukraine.
According to the correspondent of UNIAN, people’s deputies supported the minister’s resignation by 315 votes.
A scandal in the field of energyIt will be recalled that Svitlana Grynchuk submitted her resignation on November 12 against the backdrop of a corruption scandal in the energy sector. She stated that “there were no violations of the law” in the course of her professional activity.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) conducted a large-scale operation to expose corruption in the energy sector. According to NABU, members of the criminal organization built a large-scale corruption scheme to influence strategic enterprises of the public sector, in particular JSC NAEK Energoatom.
The organization of this scheme includes businessman Timur Mindich (pseudonym “Carlson”), Minister of Justice and former Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko, executive director of physical protection and security of JSC NAEK “Energoatom” Dmytro Basov (“Tenor”), former adviser to former Minister of Energy Galushchenko Ihor Myronyuk (“Rocket”), as well as former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov and his wife Svitlana, who “lighted up” on the “films of Mindich” under the pseudonym “Professor”.
On November 14, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy decided to remove the Minister of Energy Svitlana Grynchuk and the Minister of Justice Herman Galushchenko (former Minister of Energy) from the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine against the background of the revelation of huge corruption in the energy sector. On the same day, the Verkhovna Rada’s Committee on Energy and Housing and Communal Services recommended to the Verkhovna Rada to dismiss Grynchuk from the post of minister.
The main contenders for the position of Minister of Energy are the head of the parliamentary committee on energy and housing and communal services, representative of the Servant of the People faction Andriy Gerus and his colleague from the faction Andriy Zhupanin.
