Corruption investigations in the energy sector of Ukraine did not stand in the way of the dialogue regarding the allocation of reparation credit in the European Union, although the scandal itself “is not something pleasant”.

Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka told journalists about this, Ukrinform reports.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the government’s response to the scandal was “absolutely normal received by European colleagues.” According to him, the independence, speed and quality of the investigation are the determining factors.

“We do not tolerate corruption – and filing for the dismissal of the ministers involved in this scandal is an important step,” the government official explained.

Kachka added that the anti-corruption infrastructure in Ukraine is working, and the ways of solving problems on the part of the government are correct. He noted that corporate governance measures are taken in daily coordination with partners, so the reaction of the European Union is “quite positive”, although the scandal itself “is not something pleasant”.

Earlier, the President’s Office commented on the exposure of top corruption in the energy sector.

NABU also found traces of four ministers in the embezzlement case at Energoatom.

A new figure in the NABU films was revealed among energy workers.
