Ukrainians are more and more actively paying with payment cards without cash, instead of withdrawing cash.

According to the National Bank, during January-September 2025, 7.07 billion transactions with cards of Ukrainian banks were carried out in Ukraine and abroad for a total amount of UAH 5.22 trillion.

The majority of these transactions were made up of non-cash payments, which demonstrates a steady shift away from cash payments.

Out of the total volume, 6.75 billion transactions were non-cash — in the amount of UAH 3.41 trillion. Over the year, their number increased by 11.7%, and the amount increased by 9.9% compared to the same period in 2024.

The share of non-cash transactions reached 65.4% of the total amount of transactions with cards and 95.4% by number, while last year these figures were lower — 64.8% and 94.5%, respectively.

Most often, cards are used to pay in trade and service networks – such operations account for 74.4% of transactions by number and 50.7% by amount. Card-to-card transfers account for 7.3% of all transactions, but form 26.7% of total turnover by amount.

Payment for goods and services on the Internet occupies 13.7% by the number of transactions and 16.1% by the volume of funds.

The average check also shows a change in payment behavior. In trade and service networks, the average amount of one transaction increased to UAH 345 against UAH 322 last year.

For card-to-card transfers, the average payment was UAH 1,847 (versus UAH 1,976 a year earlier), and when paying for purchases on the Internet — UAH 598, versus UAH 553 in January-September 2024.

We will remind you that the National Bank set the exchange rate of the hryvnia for November 19.

Also, the National Bank of Ukraine recognized JSC “RVS Bank” as insolvent.
