French football player and coach Zinedine Zidane may soon return to coaching.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Zidane remains the main candidate for the position of the next coach of the French national team after the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup.
No deal yet signed: Zidane respects current coach Deschamps, who will only leave at the end of July, with the federation currently fully focused on preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
Zidane coached Real Madrid from 2016 to 2018 and from 2019 to 2021. During this time, the coach won three Champions Leagues and two La Ligas with the Blancos.
Previously, the legendary French football player and coach Zinedine Zidane named his football idol. The French singled out the Uruguayan Enzo Francescoli.
