Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized this in a post on his Facebook page.
He noted that a state waging a war “cannot afford political sabotage.” The speaker reminded that today, November 18, the Verkhovna Rada began consideration of the dismissal of two ministers.
“Unfortunately, during the hearing, some people’s deputies blocked the rostrum. There were demands for the resignation of the entire Cabinet of Ministers. At the same time, a clear distinction should be made: the dismissal of individual ministers and the resignation of the entire government are different procedures provided for by the Constitution and current legislation,” Stefanchuk emphasized.
He added that the opposition immediately received all the necessary documents to implement its initiative regarding the resignation of the government and “already started the relevant process in accordance with the law.”
“However, the representatives of one political force, acting contrary to the Regulations, are trying to promote their own political ambitions. Having once again blocked the work of the parliament, they are disrupting consideration of important issues that the Verkhovna Rada should resolve in the interests of the state. Such behavior is irresponsible,” the head of the Verkhovna Rada wrote.
Stefanchuk emphasized that deputies can “discuss, criticize, have different visions”, but “there is a limit beyond which political ambitions pose a threat to the state”.
“Parliament must fulfill its constitutional duty. The country is waiting for parliamentary decisions, not blocking the rostrum. Therefore, I call on all people’s deputies to return to constructive work tomorrow. And fulfill the duty imposed on us by the Constitution,” the speaker emphasized, adding that it is important to think “not about our own ratings, but about what Ukraine will be like tomorrow.”
What precededEarlier today, November 18, the “European Solidarity” faction blocked the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada, and the issue of the resignation of Ministers of Justice Herman Galushchenko and Ministers of Energy Svitlana Grynchuk was not considered.
“EU” leader Petro Poroshenko said that they insist on the resignation of the entire government, not just two ministers. He also announced that their faction has started collecting signatures for the resignation of the government, and as of today, 51 signatures have already been collected.
