Both of them entered Poland from Belarus and after their actions left there through the checkpoint in Terespol – before the investigation established their identities.
One of the Ukrainians was already convicted by a court in Lviv for subversive activities in Ukraine in May (which year is not specified).
The second “from Donbas” also worked in the prosecutor’s office in the past – however, it is not known whether he means origin from the region or living in the occupied territories of eastern Ukraine.
Tusk said he would not publicly disclose more information because the investigation is ongoing.
According to the Prime Minister, the services are now convinced that the undermining of the railway near the village of Mika and the placing of objects on the railway infrastructure near the Pulava station are acts of sabotage.
What happened before:
- Before that, the security structures of Poland announced the involvement of “special services from the east” in the sabotage of the railway, although Russia was not directly named.
- The section of the Warsaw-Lublin railway, on which the sabotage was carried out, is of strategic importance for assistance to Ukraine. Also, another incident occurred on this section of the track, which has not yet been recognized as sabotage.
- Poland decided to send territorial defense troops to patrol the most important parts of the critical railway infrastructure after these incidents.
