“At the request of the occupiers, the man tracked and transmitted the geolocations of Ukrainian troops on an important line of defense. Russia was interested in reserve command posts, fortified areas, warehouses with ammunition and fuel, as well as artillery positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Based on the transmitted coordinates, the enemy planned to strike with combat drones and guided aerial bombs and determine routes for ground attacks,” the SBU reports.
The informant contacted the occupiers through an anonymous chat in the messenger, where he sent map designations of potential “targets”.
According to the investigation, Russian special services drew attention to him after his anti-Ukrainian comments in Telegram. The man went around the city and its surroundings, recording the positions of the Defense Forces and summarizing materials for handing over to the enemy.
“During the searches, the SBU seized a phone with evidence of cooperation with the Russian Federation. The suspect was declared a suspect, he is being held without bail and may receive up to 8 years in prison,” the SBU said.
