He added that the Maduro regime “would like to talk” with the United States.
Trump’s words came on a day when the US’s newest and most advanced aircraft carrier arrived in the Caribbean to bolster an already sizable naval presence in the region.
According to the US Navy, the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R Ford, accompanied by three destroyers, was carrying dozens of aircraft and more than 4,000 troops.
The US military presence, which includes more than 14,000 troops, a dozen warships, a nuclear-powered fast submarine, a special-purpose ship and F-35 fighter jets, is widely seen as an attempt to force Maduro to step down.
But earlier Trump denied that he had decided to strike military facilities in Venezuela.
Meanwhile, the US administration is ready to pay $50 million for information that will help arrest Nicolás Maduro.
