Details: In her interview, Green explained that her decision to moderate the rhetoric was caused by concern about the possible consequences of Trump’s statements about her.

“The most offensive thing (Trump – ed.) has said is falsely accusing me of treason, and it is these words that can radicalize people against me and put my life in danger,” the congresswoman said.

Green added that she regrets her involvement in “toxic politics” and said that she has recently been working to end political strife.

“I am only responsible for myself, my words and actions… and I really want people to be kind to each other,” she said.

The shift is a stark departure from Green’s previous political style, which has previously spread offensive rhetoric about the Holocaust, publicly sparred with colleagues and maintained radical social media posts calling for the assassination of political opponents.

Her behavior also led to conflicts within the Republican Party. In 2023, she was expelled from the conservative Freedom Caucus in the House of Representatives due to disputes with colleagues.

Among other things, Green is known for her high-profile legislative initiatives and rhetoric regarding Ukraine. She is one of the most active opponents of providing financial and military aid to Kyiv. Green has repeatedly stated that the United States should not finance a “proxy war with Russia” and that “not one penny” should be allocated to Ukraine until America’s internal problems, including the situation on the border with Mexico, are resolved.

In April 2024, during the consideration of the draft law on assistance to Ukraine, Green submitted a series of absurd amendments. In particular, in one of them it was proposed to oblige all congressmen who vote “for” to be sent to fight in Ukraine.

Other amendments stipulated that the funding would not be provided until Ukraine “shuts down all its biolaboratories” and turns over the results of research to the US government, and until it is proven that the Ukrainian authorities have stopped the “war against Christianity.”

In addition to legislative initiatives, the congresswoman spread conspiracy theories and accused the Ukrainian government of “existing only because Obama’s State Department helped overthrow the previous regime.” She also spread false information about the protests in Kyiv, claiming that they were directed against President Zelensky because of his “refusal to make peace.”

At the end of the interview, the congresswoman called on Americans to “come together and put an end to all the toxic, dangerous rhetoric and division.”

She said America needs to find “a new way to move forward.”

“I lead by example with my words and actions, and I hope that President Trump will do the same,” Green concluded.
