But being on the defensive, it is impossible to conduct military operations to de-occupy territories.
At this time, the enemy uses tactics called “swings”, and this has already led to a situation of tactical crises, which turn into operational-strategic crises. Unfortunately, the Armed Forces are not able to localize these tactical crises with the tactics of warfare that are currently being used (we are talking about strategic defense). In order to change the situation, it is necessary to transfer operational or strategic reserves to these directions — first of all Pokrovsky.
As I understand it, the command of the Armed Forces sees the situation that has developed and has already made a decision to unblock the Mirnograd and Kupyan garrisons, which were surrounded by fire. In the first case, active fighting has been going on for 10 days in the direction of the Dobropilsky salient, and in the Kupyansk direction — on the northwestern flank with attempts to cut off the enemy in the center of the city. What this will lead to, it is impossible to say today. The situation is developing very quickly.
In general, military affairs consider only a few ways of command action in such crises. This is either a planned departure from positions or unblocking strikes. We do not know what the final decision will be. But according to the laws of war, decisions about how to act for units in a crisis situation are made by the commanders of these garrisons. Military necessity in this situation should be higher than political expediency.
