Thanks to the supply of ammunition at the initiative of the Czech Republic in 2024, Ukraine managed to restrain the advance of the Russian invaders.
The contract for the supply of ammunition is valid until the middle of 2026 / Collage: UNIAN, photo: facebook.com/GeneralStaff.ua, ua.depositphotos.comLast year, the Czech Republic supplied Ukraine with 1.5 million units of large-caliber ammunition. Ukraine should receive approximately the same amount of these weapons in 2025, reports Dennik N.
The publication states that the supply of ammunition on the initiative of the Czech Republic was launched in 2024, when Ukraine suffered from a huge shortage of large-caliber ammunition. It is indicated that then the disproportion compared to Russia was about 1:10 or 2:10.
Therefore, it is emphasized, the supply of ammunition helped to significantly reduce this disparity to 1:2. This gave Ukraine the opportunity to better defend its positions in various places on the front, as well as to more effectively restrain the advance of the Russians deep into Ukrainian territory.
At the same time, the publication clarifies that although the idea and organization of the purchase of ammunition belongs to the Czech Republic, many countries participate in it, in particular, allocate funding.
It is reported that contracts for the supply of ammunition to Ukraine have been concluded at least until the middle of 2026. However, whether it will be possible to deliver the same amount of ammunition next year as in 2024 and 2025 is still unclear.
The publication explains this by the fact that the new government coalition of ANO, SPD and Motoristov has repeatedly stated through its high-ranking representatives that it wants to end it because it is allegedly problematic. Therefore, it is currently unclear whether it will be extended when a new government comes to power in early 2026.
Military aid from the Czech Republic: the latest newsEarlier, UNIAN reported that the likely new foreign minister of the Czech Republic, far-right politician Filip Turek, said that the Czech Republic would probably cancel its aid to Kyiv after the formation of a new government. Turek added that the country’s new government will abide by the Czech Republic’s commitments to NATO and uphold international law, but will give priority to diplomatic efforts. He added that the Czech Republic will continue to provide Ukraine with humanitarian support, and will also focus on the security needs of the Czech Republic.
We also wrote that in 2026, the Czech Republic plans to recruit 2,250 recruits, which is the highest figure in the history of the country. It is noteworthy that for the current year, the goal was to recruit 2,100 new recruits, but the number of those willing, as predicted, will be more than 2,300. According to data, at the beginning of 2025, the number of the Czech army amounted to more than 28 thousand soldiers.
