The Security Service of Ukraine, together with Lithuanian law enforcement officers, detained a Russian militant who tried to flee to the European Union under the guise of a refugee.

“The detention took place on the border with Lithuania. The man, who is a citizen of Ukraine, fought on the side of the Russian occupying forces and tried to hide in the EU,” the message reads.
According to the investigation, the detainee turned out to be a 33-year-old native of Sumy Oblast. After the annexation of Crimea, he moved to the peninsula, received a Russian passport, joined the United Russia party and signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. After completing the training, he was appointed an operator of unmanned systems, and he launched attack drones at the positions of the Ukrainian military in Kherson.
Later, realizing the risks of participating in the fighting, the militant fled from the front, and then tried to get to the EU to get refugee status.
