According to the new church calendar, November 13 is Orthodox remember Saint John Chrysostom, who was the Archbishop of Constantinople and one of the great teachers of the Church.
Ioan lived in the 4th century in Antioch, came from a wealthy family and received an excellent education. He began his career as a lawyer, and at the same time became famous for his eloquence. But at the age of 25, he was baptized and went to the desert where he spent four years alone in prayer. After returning to Antioch, John became a priest, and soon he was ordained a presbyter. John had the rare gift of a preacher, which is why he was nicknamed Chrysostom. However, the saint became famous not only for this: he helped the poor in every way, opened hospitals and shelters. Emperor Arkady ordered John to be appointed archbishop of Constantinople, but when the saint began to expose those in power for their greed, he fell out of favor with the ruler. He was sent into exile, where he died in 407.

According to popular omens, on November 13, one should not lie and borrow or lend anything, so as not to drive away luck and prosperity from the house. Gifts for work on this day are also not accepted — the saint was selfless, and to break this rule is considered a sin.
