Details: According to Kos, the European Commission considers Moldova as a unitary state within which it will become a member of the EU.
“Your government will have to work in the Transnistrian region to ensure the rapprochement of this region as part of the Republic of Moldova, which will join the European Union. We will help you in this process,” she said.
The commissioner added that the European Union has experience in solving difficult situations in other candidate countries, and expressed confidence that sustainable solutions will be found for the Transnistrian region as well.
“In the past, we, as the European Union, were able to find solutions for many, many problems, and I am convinced that we will be able to do this with regard to the Transnistrian region as well. We will find solutions that will not become an obstacle for your country’s accession to the European Union,” Kos said.
As you know, against the background of Moldova’s move towards the European Union, it is increasingly common the question is raised on the solution of the Transnistrian problem.
