Zinedine Zidane commented on his return to coaching:

“It will happen soon, very soon,” said the 53-year-old specialist.

At the beginning of September, it was reported about the agreement between Zidane and the French Football Federation: the specialist will lead the national team after the end of the 2026 World Cup.

For the opportunity to coach the French national team, Zidane turned down several financially lucrative offers from clubs, including PSG and Bayern Munich.

Zidane has been out of work since May 2021, when he left the position of head coach of Real Madrid. Under his leadership, “Madrid” won three Champions Leagues (2015/16, 2016/17, 2017/18), became champions of Spain twice, and also won the Spanish Super Cup, UEFA Super Cup and a number of other trophies.

We will remind, in the selection for the 2026 World Cup, France plays in the same group as Ukraine. On November 13, the teams will meet in the fifth round of qualification.
