Details: He added that it was a rather long and multi-step operation to expose “systemic corruption in Energatom”, at the final stage of which “almost the entire staff of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau was involved.”
“Almost all, because several of our employees are in pretrial detention centers,” Abakumov explained.
He added that last week NABU detained another official of “Energoatom” who acted according to the same scheme.
Abakumov emphasized that there are “only initial suspicions” in this case, and “we will see what will happen in this case.”
“We have a situation where, in fact, such a structure, such a scheme, was formed in Energoatom, during which a kickback was demanded on most purchases for making payments for these purchases. These are either trusted companies that were controlled by members of a criminal organization, or completely different companies that were not controlled by members of a criminal organization, but wanted to receive funds for already completed work or delivered goods, and for this they had to pay a kickback,” explained the head of the NABU detective group.
