“I think that nothing has changed. Ukraine is still an object of Russian aggression, and until a peace agreement is concluded, our solidarity with it should not weaken,” he added.

However, the Czech president said, more damage would be caused by a change in the position of the Czech Republic regarding aid to Ukraine.

“Whether it is material, financial, military or any other aid, it would have a direct impact on the loss of lives, injuries, and material damage. I am convinced that our aid should continue, because it is not only solidarity with Ukraine, but also an expression of the values that we, as a democratic country, should stand for,” Pavel said.

The head of the right-wing populist party SPD and the new speaker of the lower house of the Czech parliament, Tomio Okamura, last week ordered the removal of the Ukrainian flag from the building of the Chamber of Deputies.

Karel Havlicek, the first deputy head of the Czech populist party ANO (which is currently leading negotiations on the formation of a coalition), believes that Ukrainian flags should be gradually removed from state buildings.
