Rybakina punished Sobolenko and became the champion of the WTA Final Tournament

Kazakhstani tennis player Yelena Rybakina (WTA 6) became the champion of the 2025 WTA Final Tournament.

In the final, the representative of Kazakhstan beat the first racket of the world Arina Sobolenko in two sets in 1 hour and 47 minutes.

In the second game, Rybakina won two set points in the 10th game on serve.

Yelena held her 14th head-to-head confrontation against Arina and won her sixth victory.

Rybakina performed at the WTA Finals for the third time in her career, she left the group for the first time and immediately took the title. At the group stage, Yelena defeated Amanda Anisimov, Iga Sviontek and Ekaterina Aleksandrova, and in the semi-finals she managed Jessica Pegula.

Rybakina won all five matches in Riyadh and as the undefeated champion will receive a check for 5 million and 235 thousand dollars – record prizes in the history of tennis.

Yelena won the 11th trophy of her career and the first major title since 2023, when she became the 1000m champion in Rome.
