“In the near future, Russia will remain a destabilizing factor in Europe and the world. And Russia is not alone in its efforts to undermine global rules. It cooperates with China, North Korea, Iran and other countries,” he added.
In this context, the Secretary General of the Alliance mentioned the need to increase defense production, which would prevail over rivals.
“We are already changing the situation with munitions. Until recently, Russia produced more munitions than all NATO members combined. But now that is not the case. Across the Alliance, we are opening dozens of new production lines and expanding existing ones. We are producing more than in recent decades,” Rutte said.
He added that NATO should build on this progress in other areas – “from high-tech air defense to low-cost drone interceptors.”
The day before, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte reacted ironically to the meeting of the Security Council called by Vladimir Putin.
In June, Rutte said that Russia was building up its military potential and would be ready to use military force against NATO countries within five years.
