Ukraine called on the parties to the armed conflict in Sudan and the international community to take all possible measures to stop the bloodshed in the country against the background of reports of “terrible acts of violence against civilians” in the city of El Fasher, which was controlled by the Sudan Rapid Support Force.

Details: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that Ukraine opposes any attempts to fragment the Republic of Sudan and its state institutions. “The Sudanese people have an inalienable right to live in peace and security,” the statement said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also confirmed Ukraine’s unchanging position in support of the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sudan, the development of its democratic and prosperous society.

“This is not only in the interests of the Sudanese people, but will also contribute to the strengthening of peace, security and stability on the entire African continent,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.

Prehistory:

  • In early October, it became known that the RSF carried out an airstrike on a shelter for displaced persons in the city of El Fasher. According to medical and human rights groups, at least 57 civilians were killed, including 22 women, 17 children and three infants. More than two dozen people were seriously injured.
  • The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, said that the war in Sudan is “getting out of control” and is turning into one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
