Church holidays on November 6, 2025

Today, November 6, believers celebrate the day of memory of the holy confessor Paul, Archbishop of Tsargorod. The future archbishop came from a pious and modest family in Constantinople. Early joined the church service, distinguished by intelligence, gentleness and firm loyalty to the Orthodox tradition. Gradually, he gained deep authority among the clergy of the capital, which later determined his vocation to archpastoral ministry.

After the death of Saint Alexander of Constantinople, the clergy and the people unanimously elected Paul as his successor. Arians, relying on the favor of Emperor Constantius II, categorically did not recognize Paul. His ordination was the beginning of long persecutions. After his accession to the throne, Paul openly preached Orthodox doctrine, condemning Arian distortions of the faith. This caused strong pressure from the Arian party. By order of the emperor, the saint was expelled from Constantinople, and an Arian was appointed in his place.
