A senior Ukrainian official told Politico that Jolie had not notified the Ukrainian government of her intention to visit the country.
According to him, a member of Jolie’s team traveling with her had an incident with local military at a checkpoint, but Ukrainian authorities are still trying to figure out what exactly happened.
In social networks, they wrote about the alleged detention of the bodyguard of the actress.
Separately, the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said the conscript was Jolie’s driver, but later told Politico that they could neither confirm nor deny the details of what happened. They said: “The information spread in the mass media is distorted, an investigation is currently underway, and all the circumstances are being clarified.”
This is Angelina Jolie’s second visit to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia in 2022. Previously, she visited the city of Lviv.
