Goff defeated Paolini in the Finals. Jasmine is out, Coco has a chance

The third racket of the world Coco Goff (USA) won her first match at the 2025 WTA Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

In the second round of the group, Steffi Graf, the American, dealt with the representative of Italy in two sets Jasmine Paolini (WTA 8) in 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Goff held her seventh head-to-head matchup against Paolini for her fourth win, including her second in 2025.

At the start of the WTA Finals, Coco lost to Jessica Pegula, and Jasmin lost to Arina Sobolenko. Paolini lost the chances to enter the playoffs of the competition.

Coco is the youngest player to achieve 10+ wins over top-10 players in a single season since Iga Swiontek in 2022, and the youngest American since Serena Williams in 2002.

Goff became the third US player in the Open Era to reach 30+ hard court wins in 3+ consecutive calendar years (2023–2025), following Lindsey Davenport (1997–2001) and Serena Williams (2013–2015).
