These optoelectronic systems are special surveillance and guidance devices that allow for faster identification of enemy drones and more accurate weapon targeting.

The Cinema Society and the Techia Foundation handed over unique equipment for the early detection of enemy targets to the 1020th regimentThe 1020th Anti-Aircraft Missile Artillery Regiment received the second electronic-optical complex as part of the “Air Defense Eyes” initiative. The system helps detect enemy drones at a much greater distance and makes air defense work more accurate and faster. The transfer was carried out thanks to the cooperation of Artem Kolyubayev’s “Union of Entrepreneurs of the Television and Film Industry” (Kinospilka) and Oleh Krot’s NGO “Techia Foundation”.

The first complex was handed over this summer – and during the massive night shelling of the capital in June, it already worked successfully in combat conditions. The complex made it possible to detect drones earlier than usual, which enabled air defense forces to react more quickly to the threat and minimize the consequences.

The Cinema Society and the Techia Foundation handed over unique equipment for the early detection of enemy targets to the 1020th regimentCo-founder of Techia Foundation Oleg Krot emphasized the importance of modern technical equipment of the regiment:

“Each such projectile is worth money, and every second of their work is a life. Today we gathered to equip this machine and in the future – dozens of such machines – with the latest optoelectronic guidance systems.”

These optoelectronic systems are special surveillance and guidance devices that allow for faster identification of enemy drones and more accurate weapon targeting. They significantly save the resources of the regiment – one shot costs about UAH 3,300, and without a complex sometimes hundreds of shots have to be fired.

The head of the Film Association and producer Artem Kolyubayev emphasized the effectiveness of the complex:

“Without this complex, sometimes 200 or more shots are spent. With it, the enemy drone can be seen earlier and more clearly, and more effective projectiles can be used immediately. Thanks to the Techia Foundation for their help and volunteering.”

Yury Andrusenko, head of the communications group of the 1020th regiment, explains that the system allows to operate in conditions when the enemy changes tactics and raises drones to higher heights:

“This complex allows you to see and, accordingly, hit targets at the heights at which the enemy is now driving away the “shahedis” – up to 4,000 meters inclusive. Due to the fact that the Russians have raised the ceiling of the flights, classic mobile fire groups have become practically helpless – they have a range of up to 1,200 meters at best. Thanks to the new complex, we can reach enemy targets and save lives.”

How the project startedThe “Eyes of Air Defense” project started in the spring. Funds for the first complex were collected thanks to charity screenings of the film “BozheVilni” in London and Manchester, organized by the Film Association and the cultural initiative “Kinostrichka UK”. Then it was possible to collect UAH 320,000, which became the basis of the collection. The total cost of the first system is UAH 792,000. She went on combat duty even before the end of the campaign.

Currently, two complexes have already been handed over to the military, and collection for the next ones is ongoing.
