The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, congratulated the soldiers of the engineering troops on their professional holiday and honored them with state awards.

The head of state awarded the “Cross of Combat Merit” to junior sergeant Serhii Bolkun, who was on duty in Sumy Oblast and participated in the Kursk operation. Serhii Bolkun, at the head of the demining group, discovered and neutralized more than 70 anti-tank and anti-personnel explosive devices. In May of this year, he was seriously wounded, but after treatment he returned to the front.
Zelenskyy emphasized that engineering units do what empowers many other soldiers, in particular, providing crossings, demining from the enemy, clearing the land of minefields and setting up positions.
The President also awarded soldiers of the engineering troops with orders “For Courage” II and III degrees.
Also, a new commemorative sign dedicated to military engineers appeared on the Alley of Defenders of Ukraine in the capital, which is located next to the Arch of Freedom of the Ukrainian People. It was established on the eve of the Engineer Forces Day, which is celebrated annually on November 3.
On May 23, on the Day of the Marine Corps in Kyiv, a memorial sign “Marine Corps” was unveiled on Defender’s Alley.
