Moldova will join Eurovision 2026 / photo ua.depositphotos.comAnother country will return to the international Eurovision Song Contest in 2026. After the announcement that Romania and Bulgaria will participate in the show, Moldova also decided to join the list of those wishing to compete for the main prize – the crystal microphone.
It’s no secret that there were no participants from Moldova in Switzerland this year. Earlier, the representatives of the country explained that they made this decision “after a detailed analysis of the current situation, as well as economic, administrative and artistic problems.” But today, November 3, the “Teleradio-Moldova” company officially announced the return to the show.
“Moldova’s return to the competition reminds us of the strength of our community, the strength of our values and what it really means to be united through music,” said Martin Green, director of the International Competition.
According to TRM, this decision was made after numerous consultations with artists, producers and representatives of the local music industry. Now the organizers want to make a new format of the National Selection, which will be coordinated by two official producers.
“In order to guarantee an objective evaluation process, the jury of the National Final will consist of 20 members, of which 5 are international and 15 are national. Acceptance of applications will begin on November 7 and last 30 calendar days,” the creators of the National Selection in Moldova emphasized.
By the way, this will be Moldova’s 20th participation in Eurovision. The country has never won the show, with the best result being SunStroke Project’s performance in 2017 with “Hey Mamma”. Then the musicians took 3rd place.
