The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are continuing to strengthen the system of combating enemy attack drones, as part of which the Command of Unmanned Air Defense Systems will be formed within the Air Force. This new body will coordinate the work of interceptor drone units.
This is reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
The Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Andrii Hnatov, held a meeting during which priorities for the further development of this system were determined:
- Formation of new units UAV interceptors.
- Increasing training specialists and creation of training facilities for operators.
- Technical upgrading of helicopters new systems for detecting and destroying enemy drones.
- Involvement of light aircraft for more effective shooting down of drones at higher altitudes.
The General Staff emphasized that work on the deployment of modern echeloned air defense is ongoing, as the enemy continuously improves its means of attack and changes its tactics.
Meanwhile, the Armed Forces of Ukraine completed the transition to a corps structure — the new corps are already successfully performing combat tasks and demonstrating positive results.
Large-scale changes have taken place in the Forces of Unmanned Systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (SBS): new brigades have been formed and the 1st separate Center has been created. In addition, recruitment for this group will start already in October.
