According to Politico, at the beginning of the week, Franken said in an interview with HUMO that NATO would “level Moscow to the ground” if Russia attacks Brussels.
These words provoked a furious reaction from the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Medvedev, who called the Belgian minister a “lunatic” and threatened that Belgium could “disappear” if the Kremlin uses new nuclear weapons.
“We recently tested our Poseidon super-torpedo, a real doomsday weapon,” Medvedev wrote in X.
In response, Franken decided to make fun of the Kremlin official — not with a political message, but with a musical message. He posted a post on Instagram with the caption:
“The main hooligan of Russia does not stop threatening and insulting.”
To the publication, he added a fragment of Selena Gomez’s song “Calm Down” (“Охолон” – UNIAN), implying that it is time for Russia to “calm down”.
Franken emphasized:
“NATO is not at war with Russia and does not seek it. But the principle of retaliating has been unchanged for 76 years. This is exactly what I meant – and I do not back down from my words.”
Russia’s “nuclear” rhetoric – the latest newsWe will remind that the dictator Putin said that on October 28, Russia conducted tests of the underwater vehicle “Poseidon”. Before that, the Russian Federation conducted a test of the Burevisnyk nuclear missile.
Amid the news, US President Donald Trump ordered the US military to immediately resume nuclear weapons testing for the first time in 33 years.
