On October 26, the penetration of Russian troops into Pokrovsk was confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At that time, according to the headquarters, there were about 200 Russian servicemen in the city, and skirmishes continued.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi spoke about the difficult situation in Pokrovsk in an evening video message on October 27.

Pokrovsk – a city with a population of about 7,000 people (more than 60,000 before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation) – is an important road and railway junction and was under threat of encirclement by Russian troops for most of the year.

During the assaults in the Pokrovsky direction, Russia repeats the scenario of the occupation of Avdiyivka, razing the city to the ground, Serhiy Okishev, an officer of the communications department of the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, told Radio Svoboda on October 28.
