US-Mexico trade talks extended for “several weeks”

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said that during a conversation with US President Donald Trump, the parties agreed to extend trade talks for “several weeks”. Source: “European Truth” with reference to CNN Details: Sheinbaum announced the continuation of trade talks with the United States a few days before the end of a 90-day pause on tariff increases of up to 30%, which the two leaders established in July. “So we’ve agreed to talk again in a few weeks as we pretty much close this issue as the three-month deadline we both set finally expires on November 1,” she said. The president of Mexico added that her conversation with Trump was “very short” and primarily concerned only the issue of trade. Currently, goods from Mexico are still subject to a 25% tariff, while those subject to the US-Mexico-Canada Free Trade Agreement (USMCA) are subject to no tariffs at all. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has decided to raise tariffs on Canadian goods by another 10% due to what he says is “distorted” advertising.
