President Volodymyr Zelenskyi met with Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna in Kyiv. Defense support for Ukraine, increased pressure on Russia and the priorities of Estonia’s chairmanship of the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) next year were the main topics of the negotiations.

Key questions:
- Defensive support: Issues were discussed long range, production of drones and defense support in general. Zelensky thanked Estonia for its contribution to the PURL initiative for the purchase of American weapons, as well as for cooperation with the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF).
- Pressure on Russia: Special attention is paid to increasing sanctions pressure. They discussed the proposals of Estonia regarding tariffs and training of the 20th package of EU sanctions.
- NB8 cooperation: Estonia’s priorities for the NB8 presidency were discussed, which will focus on supporting Ukraine, including defense assistance, EU accession, reconstruction, security cooperation and use of frozen Russian assets.
The President also informed the Estonian diplomat about contacts with the USA and other partners, and at the end of the meeting he awarded Tsahkna with the Order of Merit, II degree.
As a reminder, Estonia will hand over a new large batch of drones to Ukraine.
Estonia also condemned the Russian missile attack on a hospital in Kharkiv.
