Departure of men aged 18-22 from Ukraine: how many crossings were recorded at the border with Slovakia

A month after the government allowed going abroad men from 18 to 22 years oldregistered at the entrance to Slovakia more than 11 thousand border crossings Ukrainians of this age category.

This was reported by the Border and Foreign Police Service of the Slovak Republic (Riaditeľstvo hraničnej a cudzineckej polície) in response to an information request by “Ukrainian Pravda. Life”.

The highest peak of entry into Slovakia was observed there on September 21-22, when almost 500 male citizens of Ukraine aged 18 to 22 crossed the border. At the same time, the departure peak was recorded at the end of August and at the end of September.

According to the statistics of Slovak border guards, during most of the mentioned period, the number of entries into Slovakia was higher than the number of exits – that is, more people entered (or crossed the border in this direction) than left.

On the other hand, in the last days of September, both indicators show a decline.

At the same time, as noted in the Border and Foreign Police Service, to two citizens of Ukraine in this age group refused to cross the border. The reasons for this were:

  • point F of the Schengen Borders Code – probably the border guards believed that the person is a risk or threat to security, order or health, or her data has been entered in the Schengen Information System as a person who is prohibited from entering, or there are diplomatic or security reservations against her;
  • H1-SISII of the Schengen Borders Code – a Ukrainian citizen was probably found in the database as a person who is prohibited from entering or staying in the Schengen area.

We will remind, at the end of August, the government allowed travel abroad for men aged 18 to 22 years. This norm worked August 28.

For crossing the border for men in this age category must have passport and military registration document in paper or electronic form.

Previously in the State Border Service of Ukraine notedwhich did not record a significant increase in passenger traffic out of the country after this rule came into effect.

Instead, in the Border Service of Poland notedthat from August 28 to September 19, 2025, almost 53,000 checks of men, citizens of Ukraine, aged 18-22 were registered at the Ukrainian-Polish border.
