The Sky Defender program integrates various means of detecting, tracking and destroying drones. It can combine more than 50 different means of combating drones and displays their management on the screen of one laptop.
Anatoly Khrapchynskyi, the deputy director of Piranha Tech, told Oborontsi that the use of this program will allow monitoring the sky above cities and creating two lines of defense against enemy UAVs. The program was developed in response to the growing presence of Russian drones over Ukrainian cities and increasing the range of enemy FPVs.
“Recently, we witnessed the flight of FPV drones to Kharkiv. Recently, there was a Lancet attack on the city of Chernihiv. That is, the enemy is currently significantly increasing the kill zone thanks to the means of destruction created on the basis of commercial drones. Therefore, the main task of most front-line and border cities is to protect themselves from radio-controlled drones or with a navigation system for more accurate hitting of the target,” Khrapchynsky emphasizes.

“Defense”
The number of EW and PEP devices connected to the Sky Defender program depends on the topography of the area and the size of the city that the system is supposed to defend. First, the system detects the target using the radar and plots its movement on the map. Further, additional detection means begin to work, which direct EW systems and interceptor drones to the enemy drone.
The program will make it possible to autonomously launch interceptor drones at enemy targets. Piranha Tech integrates its own Piki and Hunter UAVs into the system.
Piki is designed to defeat reconnaissance drones and can rise to a height of five thousand meters. The Hunter interceptor is designed to combat Shahed-type drones and other aircraft-type “strikers”.

“Defense”
Nearest to the city and on critical infrastructure facilities, EW devices are located, which, depending on the modification, can operate at a distance of 1.5, 5 or even 20 km. Complexes of both dome action and antennas directed in a specific direction work in the system. Each tool has a military or civilian specification.
For example, the frequency range of the DF-M EW complex, which is integrated into the system, can be from 100 to 7,000 MHz, depending on the customer’s needs. For remote control of means, the company developed the War Jammer program, the principle of which is Defense wrote in September

According to Khrapchynskyi, the Sky Defender and War Jammer programs will allow creating a single center for monitoring and countering most UAVs. Such centers can be placed on the basis of city councils with the participation of specialists or in situational centers of the State Emergency Service.
“We see how the enemy is trying to significantly reduce the cost of the means of destruction. With these systems, we can protect the city from FPV drones or from drones of the “Molniya” type. The latter already has a modification of the drone mat with two kamikaze drones,” summarizes the deputy director of Piranha Tech.
We will remind that at the AUSA 2025 exhibition in Washington demonstrated the new Tytan interceptor drone with AI elements. The developers claim that the drone will be able to shoot down Shahed-type strike drones, and it is already being tested in Ukraine.
