The Nürburgring in Germany is one of the most difficult and dangerous race tracks in the world. Car manufacturers have traditionally used the track as the toughest test for their models, and now a new champion has appeared in the electric car record book – Yangwang U9 Xtreme of the Chinese company BYD.

The hypercar has passed the northern loop of the Nürburgring 20.8 km long 6 minutes 59.157 secondssetting a record as the fastest production electric car on the track. He didn’t just beat the previous record – bettered his own best time on five seconds and became the first electric car of its class to overcome seven-minute barrier.
