Manchester United is preparing a serious reinforcement of the center of the field in the January transfer window – Sporting midfielder Morten Uhlmann is the main candidate.

Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim, known for his dynamic, high-pressing style, sees the midfield as a key area to strengthen for a team looking to regain its status among the Premier League’s elite.
As reported TEAMtalk, the main priority is the 26-year-old Danish midfielder of Sporting Morten Uhlmann — a football player whom Amorim “absolutely adores” since his days working in Lisbon. Manchester United hope to buy him for around £50m, despite the £70m buyout clause.
In addition to Uhlmann, the shortlist of the Manchester club includes four more candidates:
▪️Adam Wharton from Crystal Peles, a 21-year-old Englishman who has been compared to Declan Rice;
▪️Carlos Baleba from Brighton – a 21-year-old Cameroonian midfielder, whose transfer is estimated at almost 100 million pounds;
▪️Job Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund – the 20-year-old Englishman could return to England on loan to get more game time ahead of the 2026 World Cup;
▪️Viktor Frogoldt from Porto is a 19-year-old Dane who has been impressing in the Champions League and is being closely watched by scouts.
Amorim aims to form a midfield that combines physical strength, intelligence and creativity. However, Financial Fair Play restrictions and inflated player prices in January could make it difficult for Manchester United to realize their ambitious plans.
