This year’s congress will be held under the slogan “Courage to be yourself.”
The program will consist of four discussion platforms:
- “Courage to be the first” – about youth, innovation and technology;
- “Courage to be visible” – about women in communities and business;
- “Courage to be in power” – about political participation and leadership;
- “Courage to be different” is about diversity and inclusion.
The convention will also announce the winner of the Mary O’Hagen Award, an annual award given for outstanding contributions to gender equality, women’s leadership and social change. It was founded in honor of an international human rights expert who actively supported Ukraine.
The UZHK hinted that this year the award will be given to a woman “with the warmest call sign in the Armed Forces.” Last year laureate became public figure, journalist, paramedic of the “Hospitaliers” medical battalion Iryna “Cheka” Tsybukh (posthumously).
“We want the stories of brave women to become visible during the Congress. After all, it is these stories that change the country every day, inspire new achievements and provide role models for young people.” – emphasized the co-founder of UZHK, People’s Deputy Maria Ionova.
The congress will be held in offline and online formats. The live broadcast will begin on October 23 at 10:00 a.m the official website of UZHK, YouTube channels (in Ukrainian and English) and Facebook pages.
The Ukrainian Women’s Congress is a national platform for promoting equality policy in Ukraine. Among his achievements are the lifting of the ban on 450 “male” professions for women, the adoption of a gender quota in elections, women’s access to higher military education and permission to hold combat officer positions.
