And it was the “Red Fury” that stopped the winning streak of the Ukrainians, snatching a ticket to the quarterfinals thanks to a goal by Betis striker Pablo Garcia in the middle of the first half of the game.
For comparison, Paraguay faced Norway in the round of 16, and South Korea faced Morocco. On paper, these opponents seem more convenient for Mykhaylenko’s wards. However, both the Paraguayans and the Koreans also suffered defeats at the start of the playoffs, albeit with a minimal score difference. History does not know the conventional way, and therefore we can only state that the repetition of the legendary success of Petrakov’s team in 2019 was not possible.

In the playoffs, the Moroccan national team first defeated South Korea (2:1), then defeated the USA team (3:1), and only in the semi-finals did they face a very difficult opponent, but still managed to beat France. The main time and added time ended in a 1:1 draw, and in the soccer lottery it was the Moroccans who scored more accurately from the 11-meter mark.
In the final, the Moroccan fairy tale reached its climax: two goals by 20-year-old Yassir Zabiri gave the Atlas Lions their first ever championship. Zabiri himself, thanks to a double in the decisive match against Argentina, became one of the best scorers of the tournament, scoring a total of 5 goals – the same number as Cremask from the USA, Villarreal from Colombia and Michal from France.

So it is possible that this success is not the limit, and the young generation will be able to further strengthen the main team of the country.
