She noted that she discussed energy security, defense, infrastructure, education and sanctions policy with Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico. Sectoral discussions at the ministerial level also took place.
The head of the government reports on the signing of four agreements:
- on cooperation in labor migration
- on financial and technical assistance
- protocol on checkpoints (launch of the pedestrian and bicycle crossing “Uzhgorod – Vyshnye Nemetske” by the end of this year and increase of the cargo capacity of the checkpoint “Malyy Bereznyy – Ublya” to 5 tons)
- on placement of diplomatic missions
According to Svyridenko, Slovakia will support the protection of Ukraine’s energy system and projects to create shelters in schools in the frontline regions.
“A very important decision – in 2026, the first bilingual Ukrainian school will open in Bratislava. This will allow our children, who were forced to leave due to the war, to study in the Ukrainian environment and maintain contact with the Motherland,” she wrote on her social networks.
The Prime Minister added that she discussed coordination with Fico regarding the 19th package of sanctions against Russia.
As quoted by the publication ENRduring negotiations with Svyridenko Fico agreed with the idea of creating a Ukrainian school and noted that Slovakia needs 150 thousand qualified workers. He called it an area in which Ukraine and Slovakia can cooperate due to the similarity of the languages of the two countries.
Formerly Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiga reported on negotiations with his Slovak colleague Juraj Blanar. According to their results, he said that Slovakia will provide Ukraine with a new package of energy equipment worth 500,000 euros and another 300,000 for the construction of shelters in schools in the frontline regions of Ukraine. In addition, Ukraine will open a consulate general in Pryashiv.
