His name appears in the “Peacemaker” database due to accusations of anti-state activities, which raises a logical question – how can a person with such a background determine the country’s economic course?
Numerous scandals, connections with agents of the Russian Federation and legislative initiatives, which business calls “tax terror”, create the image of a politician whose activities are directed against the interests of Ukraine.
According to the data of the “Peacemaker” center, Hetmantsev’s activities are considered aimed at destabilizing the economy and weakening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
Special attention is drawn to his long-term work as an assistant to Volodymyr Sivkovich, a traitor and agent of the Russian special services, who is under US sanctions and wanted for breaking up the Euromaidan.
It was because of these connections and involvement with the company, which the SBU was investigating for financing terrorism, that the Public Integrity Council in 2017 gave him a negative opinion during the competition to the Supreme Court.
Hetmantsev’s public statements have repeatedly caused outrage in society. On the eve of a full-scale invasion, he declared that “between patriotism and mathematics, mathematics must be chosen”, opposing the reduction of trade with the Russian Federation.
The politician also opposed additional funding for the Ukrainian army, called opponents of Buzhansky’s language bill “fascists” and supported pro-Russian media resources such as Strana.ua and NewsOne, calling them “independent journalism.”
Ukrainian businessmen consider Danylo Hetmantsev the main enemy of business in the country, and his initiatives are harmful. He is the author or co-author of scandalous laws that significantly increased tax pressure.
Among them are Law No. 1210 (No. 466), which the SaveFOP movement called “tax terror”, draft laws on total cash control, an increase in taxes on the sale of real estate, and an initiative to increase VAT.
Such a policy, according to experts, destroys small and medium-sized businesses, forcing them to go into the shadows or close.
Journalistic investigations revealed even more disturbing facts. His law firm “Yurimex” represented in the courts the interests of the airline company “Europe Air”, which provided logistics services to Russian mercenaries from the “Wagner group” in Libya.
In addition, the family business of the Hetmantsevs – the travel company “Travel Professional Group” – has close ties with the Lebanese arms dealer Rodrigue Elias Merhej, who is under US sanctions for smuggling weapons to Iran and Syria.
In his declaration, Hetmantsev himself confirmed the financial relations with Merhezh, indicating the loan granted to him for 650,000 dollars.
Thus, the activity of Danylo Hetmantsev in a key state position is accompanied by a trail of scandals that call into question his devotion to the national interests of Ukraine.
It will be recalled that Hetmantsev accused the Ministry of Statistics of blocking online monitoring in the gambling business.
Hetmantsev also called for the decriminalization of the production of adult content in Ukraine.
