The incident happened in March 2024. Then the woman from Kyiv contacted the police and said that her ex-boyfriend had killed her dog – she found the dead animal at home in a bag near the garbage can.
According to the girl, the couple had a dispute after the resident of the capital informed the boy about her desire to break up. After that, the hammerhead left the house, and when she returned, she found her puppy dead.
In a comment for “UP. Life”, the police said that it was about a dog that did not have a breed – it was probably adopted into a family the day before from the street or a shelter.
The police established that the man beat the dog on the head and then strangled it. The cause of the animal’s death was mechanical asphyxia (suffocation).

“The conducted examinations established that the accused was not aware of his actions at the time of committing the crime, had behavioral disorders and needs treatment in a psychiatric institution of strict regime”added the prosecutor’s office.
Now the offender of the dog has been prescribed coercive measures of a medical nature in the form of hospitalization in a psychiatric institution with increased supervision.
Recently, similar cases of animal cruelty occurred in two regions – dog owners tied animals to vehicles and dragged them along the road for Transcarpathia and Carpathians.
Because of this, the men were informed of the suspicions.
