“UP.Zhyttia” learned about what the weather will be like in October 2025 and whether to expect warming from the weather forecaster of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center of Natalia Ptukha.
What is a woman’s summer? According to weather forecasters, there is no such official term as “women’s summer”. This is the popular name for warm, dry and sunny weather that comes after the first cold weather in autumn.
From a scientific point of view, “ladies’ summer” is the period in autumn, when a field of high atmospheric pressure with a relatively warm air mass forms a weather, the expert says.
“Such alternations in synoptic processes are always present throughout the year (fronts with clouds and rain, then an anticyclone with the sun), it’s just that in autumn it can be felt a little brighter, but it’s all subjective”– says Natalia Ptukha.
Should we expect warming in October? According to preliminary forecasts, the temperature at the end of October 2025 will be within the normal range, so abnormal warming should not be expected.
“This year, so far, after the meteorological summer, the meteorological autumn has come (in the third decade of September). And there were no noticeable changes in the weather in the direction of an increase in temperature.” – emphasizes Nataliya Ptukha.
On October 17, there will be no precipitation in Ukraine.
“The temperature at night is positive and only in the East and Southeast of the country – there may be frost in the morning” – says the weather forecaster.
In general, daytime temperature will answer mid-October, that is, quite comfortable – 7°-14°C.
During the weekend, moderate rains will pass in most regions. October 19 in the North and West of the country there will be rain with sleet.
From Saturday, an atmospheric front will begin to move towards us, and on Sunday in the Western and Northern regions, as well as in the Vinnytsia region, it is expected temperature drop to 2°-7°C.
“This is due to the fact that at an altitude of 1.5 km there will be minus temperature values, and on the ground – positive, so precipitation can fall in the form of wet snow and immediately melt. There is no mention of the formation of a snow cover”, – explains the expert.
During the day of October 18 and at night on October 19, heavy rains are expected in Odesa.
At the end of October, forecasters predict steady moderate winds of 5-12 m/s.
From October 20, the cyclone will begin to move away from Ukraine, but light rains will remain. Wet snow is expected in the Western and Northern regions, in the Southern regions – no precipitation
On October 21, weather without precipitation will prevail in most regions.
At night, forecasters predict a decrease in temperature – 1°-7°C – in most regions, and in the Western regions there may be frost in the air – -3°C.
“According to today’s calculations, UkrHMC specialists expect calmer weather in the third decade of October, mainly a field of high pressure, less precipitation, possible daytime clearing and a daytime temperature background within 10-15”, – summarizes the forecaster.
